"Okay...people are dead."Didn't get enough of Deadpool's black humor in X-Men Origins: Wolverine?
"Dreams really do come true."
It's official, Ryan Reynolds will be back as Deadpool in his own movie centered around the humorous X-Men character.
I think it's safe to say that Deadpool won't have his mouth sewn shut in this one. If you're anything like me, X-Men Origins:Wolverine was quite the disappointment but you enjoyed the introduction of some new characters into the film series - namely Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Gambit (Taylor Kitsch), neither of which got enough screen time. Apparently, enough fans enjoyed watching Deadpool's few scenes in the movie that Fox approved Deadpool movie. Could anyone other than Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool pull this off? Absolutely not.
With Marvel Studios having some control over this movie it will hopefully follow the story of Deadpool as close to the comic books as possible. Fans have been upset with storyline inconsistencies and complete strays from the comics from the past four movie - I've personally heard a ton of complaints about Phoenix. Hopefully Marvel Studios will keep a close eye on this one, maybe they'll read a comic or two!
Whether or not they stray from the storyline and even if the special effects and fighting scenes aren't that great, I still find myself enjoying this movie for one reason - Reynolds was halarious in the few scenes he was in, a whole movie of that kind of humor would be amazing. This movie will be a big hit regardless. Genre - comedy or action? - that's the big question.
*Below is a Wade Wilson (Deadpool) short advertisement for X-Men Origins: Wolverine but I think it's a great example of Deadpool humor.*
